Winter holidays 2027 in the mountains

The weeks in 2027

Each Swedish municipality decides when its sports holiday is, and most place it in one of weeks 7–10. A few examples from the municipalities' own school calendars for 2026/2027:

In Norway, Oslo has its winter break in week 8. In Denmark, Copenhagen has its winter break in week 7. In Finland the ski holiday is spread over weeks 8–10, with southern Finland first and Lapland last.

When is it busiest?

Week 8 has the most of the examples above off at once: Malmö, Oslo and Helsinki. That is when Swedish, Norwegian and Finnish families compete for the same weeks in the mountains. Week 10 comes last, when the days are longer.

Do your children go to different schools, or are you travelling with a family from another municipality? Compare your weeks before you book: two families in the same group can be off in different weeks.

How to book it right

• Search for the whole holiday. In the search you can pick the holiday for your country and see places that are free in any of its weeks, with the total price for the week.
• Plan for Saturday to Saturday. Many hosts only let whole weeks during the holidays.
• Check the distance to the lift and the cross-country tracks. With small children a few hundred metres make a big difference.
• Compare the total price, not the nightly price. Cleaning, bed linen and other mandatory fees should be included in the total.
• Read the cancellation rules in the listing before you book, especially if you are several families.
